Mike Jayy (a.k.a. Mike J.) was born in East Germany and moved to Cologne, where he has lived since 1998. His first dance music inspirations came from artists like Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre, and later in Stuttgart during the mid to late 90’s, Mike got into dance music for the floor at clubs ‚Trance“ and ‚Oshos“. In 2006, a DJ friend (Mister Mola) passed Mike his turntables and Mike J. eagerly began mixing. After a year of home sessions and private party sets, Mike was very quickly given his first residency at Cologne’s Station2B. Instantly, his refreshing presentation of a unique cross-section of house-tech-progressive-techno-electro was received with positive critique. Mike was soon after invited to perform in Madrid at The Angel, where he has played as a regular guest since mid 2007.
At the end of 2007, one of Cologne’s premier clubs Diamonds engaged Mike J. to work in their after hour events including ‚Insomnia“ and ‚Toxic“ where he has been resident since. The event has since moved on to a new location Privilege, where the party has been re-named ‚Illegal Sounds“. In mid 2008, a new event appeared in Cologne’s Room69 at the chic, ultra modern Media Park; ‚Kinky Beats“ occurs 6 times a year, and of course, Mike J. is at the helm.
After a quick but effective stripe-earning process, Mike J. was selected to play Germany’s seminal progressive club, often voted best club in NRW by German magazines Rik and Blu. Mike J. made his debut as a warm-up DJ at Greenkomm in October 2008, and has been welcomed back many times as a main slot DJ. More recently, Mike J. has performed at Fetish Evolution Essen, one of the biggest fetish events in Germany, and has been called in to perform as regular guest at Cologne hotspots The O and Teatro, at both Night Control and Key Club, at Breakfastbeats, Club House / Teatro, Greenkomm, Sexy, Sonar Wave Festival, Bar Barcelon, Stuck bar, Cock-Pit, Codex, Tanz & Schmerz, Care, UC Party Frankfurt and now also Bear-Necessity.
His passion ‚to make people happy and flying“ permeates through the speakers.
Since 2012 Mike is one of our favorites and resident DJ. We all love to listen to his set in the early morning before the night will end 🙂
